Welcome to Aquatic Anthros!
Turns out on DA, there's groups for anthro sharks, and groups for mermaids, but there's no groups for anthro whales or dolphins or porpoises or anything like that.
Or, at least, there weren't.
We're a group dedicated to quality art and stories of water-based anthros and furries of all types. We're primarily focused on cetaceans, but we'll welcome anything else too. Aquatic species are so beautiful, but they're under-represented in the anthro community. This is where people can get together and share their love of our favorite aquatic species.
If you're a good artist, feel free to join and send us two examples of your work. If you just like to look at pretty art, we'll be grateful if you clicked the watch button!
No full-frontal nudity on anatomically correct characters. Scanty swimwear can be part of the territory for aquatic species in particular, so the line can be fine. The rule of thumb here is, if it the areola is showing, that's a no-go.
Sex and anything in bad taste is out of the question. If it's NSFW, it's a no-go here.
There is a 3/day submission limit.
All submissions must show effort. If something is obviously of low quality, then it will be rejected.
This group is for artists of average skill and above.
Merfolk are kind of a grey area, and they'll be held to a very high standard. If it's the top half of a normal woman glued onto the bottom of something aquatic, then there are plenty of other groups for that. There needs to be some sort of blending between the top and bottom. If the top half is another species besides human, but isn't necessarily aquatic, that also works (like if for some reason there was a dog anthro on top and a fish on the bottom; that's fine). So, this would work: fav.me/d1w5ugr This wouldn't: fav.me/d36xddf (Both are good pieces, but one is definitely more "Anthro" than the other).
If we reject you, we will generally tell you why.
Please submit your work to the correct folders.
No lined paper, no rough sketches. We want to see your best work.
Art must demonstrate plausible anatomy with no flagrant errors. There are a lot of different ways you can go when you're drawing anthros, but there are still rules to follow.
Stories with an overabundance of typos and poor grammar will be rejected. Poor flow is also a reason for rejection.
Membership is intended for artists. Those who wish to simply follow the submitted art are welcome to watch.
Please submit two examples of your work with your request. Acceptance is not 100% guaranteed, but if you are not accepted, we will tell you why, so you may re-apply later.
Rules will be subject to change and refinement as time goes on.
